Dr. Carrie DeRegis first discovered the world of veterinary medicine during a summer job as a kennel assistant at Pieper Olson Veterinary Hospital. She continued to work at Pieper’s for almost 10 years, advancing to the position of veterinary technician after earning her degree in Veterinary Science Technology. Carrie left Pieper’s to attend veterinary school and received her DVM degree from Tufts University as valedictorian of her class in 2002. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine at Tufts in 2003, and then went on to complete a PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences from Cornell University in 2008. She returned to clinical practice as a medical oncology resident at Tufts and completed her training in 2011.
Carrie enjoys the outdoors and just about anything to do with nature and animals. She considers herself a decent cook and likes trying out cooking in many different international styles. She also loves music and has been a member of different rock bands that have played out at a number of venues in CT in the past. Her two kitties, Bijou and Jax, keep her entertained at home. She is excited to return home to Pieper’s in a new role as veterinary oncologist and getting to know central Connecticut again.
