Behavior

Unfortunately one of the more common reasons for relinquishment or euthanasia of a pet is behavioral problems.  These include aggression, house soiling, separation anxiety, phobias and compulsive disorders.  Some problems are environmental or due to upbringing, while others are breed related or multifactorial.  A detailed history obtained through a comprehensive questionaire, laboratory tests, and observation of the pet as well as client discussions are all utilized to diagnose behavior problems. Therapies involve environmental and behavior modifications, training, and medication. A committed owner is an important part of a successful outcome.
